01. The mission. In Carol’s words.

“I believe that paintings and art can change the energy in a room and bring your vibration up.”

Natural light is a limitless spectrum of color. Everything it touches is illuminated in brilliance and brought to life. My abstractions aim to interpret this powerful force of nature.

I use crystals, pyrite, opals and many other minerals embedded into the canvases.

Mission statement

Carol Calicchio paints to change the energy of the rooms her work hangs in. From a studio on the Intracoastal in Delray Beach she paints oversized abstract florals and seascapes in thick paint and sets crystals, pyrite, opals and other minerals into the canvas. The two books, the painting classes and the animal rescue work come from the same place.

Carol Calicchio is a Palm Beach abstract artist whose oversized florals and seascapes, set with crystals and minerals, are painted to change the energy of a room.

Short

Carol Calicchio's abstract florals and deep blue seascapes hang in private homes, at Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach and Tammy Fender Holistic Spa in Palm Beach, and in showrooms and galleries from Miami to Nantucket. Many carry amethyst, pyrite, rose quartz and opal set into the paint. A Fairfield County, Connecticut native, she earned her degree from the New York School of Interior Design and studied painting and drawing at the School of Visual Arts. She works from a studio on the Intracoastal in Delray Beach, Florida. Her paintings are collected in two hardcover monographs, Flower Power and Ocean Power, published with the Historical Society of Palm Beach County.

Carol Calicchio is an abstract artist. Her belief is that a painting can change the energy in a room and bring your vibration up. She paints oversized florals that critic Bruce Helander has compared to bursting fireworks, and seascapes in cerulean, pthalo and deep marine, then presses crystals, pyrite, opals and other minerals into the surface. Raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut, in a family of artists, she earned her degree from the New York School of Interior Design and studied painting and drawing at the School of Visual Arts, where she realized the art she had been curating for other people's homes was the art she wanted to make. Today she works from a studio on the Intracoastal in Delray Beach, Florida, with a gallery that opened in August 2026. Her work is the subject of two hardcover monographs published with the Historical Society of Palm Beach County: Flower Power, written by Bruce Helander with essays by Anthony Haden-Guest and Elizabeth Sobieski, and Ocean Power. She was Dan's Papers' cover artist in August 2023, a Dan's Palm Beach Power List honoree in 2023 and 2024, and has given an artist talk at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. She has shown in more than forty exhibitions since 2019, from Fivestory in New York to Manolis Projects in Miami. With Boynton Beach's Nomad Surf Shop she turned her paintings into a limited run of rideable surfboards, on view at The Shops at The Breakers. She is the founder of Carol's Pet Collective and teaches painting classes at the studio and at The Ben in West Palm Beach.
